Assignments: Thursday - September 27 - October 11 We are now starting the following topic: (C) Telling a story, such as relating a movie one has seen, or relating an interesting incident that has happened to you or an acquaintance. We will start by learning a short description of "Zhongqiujie - Mid-Autumn Festival" and "Xiaohongmao - Little Red Riding Hood." You may find both of these stories under the "Listening Material" tab. For the students in group A the main task will be to learn these two stories, and make an audio recording of an an excerpt from "Xiaohongmao." All other students will still need to learn both stories, but will also write a brief story on your own and record it to be added to the portfolio. In class Sept. 27, we will practice/study the two stories above. At that time each of you will be given an individual assignment to be completed by October 11. * Group A students - Albert, Caroline, Chris, David, Jennifer, Kabir, Sa. * Portfolio - Please check your portfolio online. Check these things: (a) If your text is not in Chinese characters, you must type the text in characters and submit it to me. Also make sure you have an English equivalent which does not have to correspond exacty to the character version. You are not required to have Pinyin. (b) Reread your text that is online. Make sure this is the final set of corrections that we agreed on. Send an email through WebCT to confirm that this is the final version. If it is an incorrect version, or needs some minor changes, let me know in the email EXACTLY what needs to be changed. For those of you who made a recording in class, I will upload your recording soon, and give you a grade for both the text and the recording. If you are not happy with the grade for the recording, you may make your own recording and resubmit it to be considered for a higher grade, but your grade for the text will be final. (c) Please send me the email that you use most frequently. In the meantime, continue to check WebCT email twice a week. Also make sure you check this page each week to see updated assignments.
